Receive file – External file transfer (secure file transfer)

The “External file transfer” function must be activated by the administrator in the data room settings. Please note that you must also activate “External file transfer” for yourself as administrator and for users of the data room in the personal user settings. To do this, go to the “Groups & users” area on the left, find the relevant user and tick it, then go to “Properties” on the right and then to “Options”. To be able to receive files from business partners and customers outside of netfiles (i.e. who are not users in the netfiles data room), click on “Set up file reception” in the right-hand function bar under “External file transfer > Receive”.

In this dialog, you can authorize people via an e-mail address and send files securely to your inbox in netfiles. Optionally, you can set any expiration date and a password. The password must be communicated to the recipient in another way.

The recipient receives an e-mail with a special link to an individual website that allows them to send files to your netfiles inbox. As soon as you receive a file, you will be notified by e-mail. You can download received files to your computer or copy them to the netfiles data room, provided you have the appropriate write permissions.

Important notes

  • Files that have been sent to your netfiles account in this way are only accessible to you. If you would like to make these files accessible to other data room users, you must copy them to the data room as explained above.
  • If your user account is deleted, the files in the “Inbox” will also be deleted.
  • If you would like a copy of the emails sent, we recommend that you have a data room administrator activate the “Email archive copy” option.
