Upload ZIP archives

netfiles offers the great advantage of being able to upload a large number of documents or entire folder structures as archive files and unpack them directly into netfiles. This is the simplest and most reliable method for uploading many files.
netfiles supports the following formats:

  • ZIP
  • 7zip (7z)
  • rare
  • tar.gz
  • gzip

When uploading files with filenames containing a lot of special characters, we recommend using the 7zip archiver with the 7z archive format. Unlike the standard ‘*.zip’ format, this ensures that international character sets are always correctly unpacked.

This is how easy it is to create a ZIP archive in Windows.

Automatic unpacking

If you upload compressed archives (permitted file types: zip, 7z, rar, gzip, tar or tar.gz) to netfiles, the file is automatically unpacked after uploading and all the folders and files it contains are saved. In this way, you can upload complete folder structures with content in one step. You can deactivate automatic unpacking under your personal options.

Manual unpacking

You can also unpack ZIP archives that were not unpacked during the upload afterwards on netfiles. Click with the mouse on the file on the right and then go to “Expand archive”.
