Information about netfiles Data Vault

netfiles Data Vault is a data room with end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Your data is encrypted using the proven AES-256 standard and the secure key exchange is fully automated in the background using the latest RSA-4096 public key method.

You do not have to manage any certificates and do not need any prior technical knowledge. What you need in addition to the normal login data (user name or e-mail address and password) is your personal data key, which you assign the first time you log in to netfiles Data Vault.

Your data is encrypted directly in the browser on your device before it is transferred to netfiles and stored in our highly secure data centers. Only you and persons authorized by you have access to the keys; netfiles has no access to your data content.

Due to technical requirements, end-to-end encryption limits the functionality of Data Vault compared to other netfiles data rooms. The following features are not available in netfiles Data Vault:

• Online editing: Files cannot be created and edited in the data room
• Preview images: Only PDF, image and text files can be displayed in the preview
• No folders can be downloaded. Files can still be downloaded without any problems
• Unpacking/packing ZIP files
• PDF documents with watermarks cannot be downloaded.
• Downloading password-protected PDFs
• Full text search
• Data room exports
• External file transfer
• WebDAV
• SFTP
• Virus scan
